Robert Keith Packer pleaded not guilty to his two charges: entering and remaining in a restricted building; violent entry and disorderly conduct and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.
Packer was arrested in January by the FBI in Newport News. He was released from jail after his initial court appearance on a personal recognizance bond.
Officials say time is still needed to gather evidence and prepare for his trial.
His next scheduled status conference will be held on April 27 at 11 a.m.
