Police in Wolcott arrest suspected robber

Keith Chapman. Contributed/Wolcott Police Department $cvals WOLCOTT Police on Tuesday arrested a 32-year-old suspected of robbing the Dunkin Donuts at 1677 Meriden Road in October. Police say Keith Chapman of New Haven entered the store and demanded cash, threatening one of the clerks with a large knife. The clerks, frightened, ran to a back room of the store, locked themselves inside and called 911, according to police. Chapman fled the store, without any cash, before officers arrived. Police arrested Chapman, who is suspected of similar robberies in other towns, during a court appearance. He was charged him with first-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree breach of peace.

On the night of December 18th, Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a registration violation. At the time of the stop, an occupant of the vehicle fled on foot and the Officer gave chase. The suspect, Aaron Williams, 34, was taken into custody a short distance later without incident. Officers retraced the steps of the chase and located a firearm that is believed to have been thrown down by Williams when he fled. K9 Charlie was deployed around the vehicle, and provided a positive presence of illegal drugs within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, in a quantity that would be indicative of illegal drug distribution. Further investigation revealed a room the subjects were known to be frequenting at Motel 6. A search warrant was obtained to search it for items related to illegal drug

With car break-ins skyrocketing in area cities, towns, local leaders meet to tackle problem head on @drzeweickinbh Legislators, town officials, police, criminal justice and child advocates are all pulling from their respective expertise to tackle a crime plaguing local residents. Car break-ins and theft in suburbs of New Britain and Hartford have risen dramatically in the last year. Stolen vehicle reports alone have increased 92% in Newington, 40% in Wethersfield and 256% in Berlin. Connecticut State Police and detectives from major cities established a task force this year to address this issue head-on. In July, the group reported recovering 154 stolen cars and eight stolen firearms, also making 59 felony arrests.
