South Cumbrian roads to close for £300,000 resurfacing work. A £300,000 scheme to resurface roads in Grange-over-Sands will begin in January. Cumbria County Council will replace worn-out sections of road with a new, hard-wearing surface on a 2km length of carriageway on the B5277. Plans are underway to carry out the work at night – from 6.30pm to 1am – and the roads will be closed to minimise disruption. Work is due to start on Monday January 11 on the Grange to Lindale section for up to 10 weekday nights, subject to weather conditions. The road will be closed in sections between the B5271 Windermere Road and B5277 Lindale Roundabout.

By tackling a local congestion hotspot, the improvement will remove a brake on economic investment Highways England is constructing the new roundabout along the A590 at Cross-a-Moor south of Ulverston. It is expected to cost around £7 million with partnership funding from Highways England, Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and South Lakeland District Council. The new roundabout will replace the existing staggered junction with Main Road running south off the A590 and Pennington Lane running north of it.
