Gerrards Cross bowls club celebrated their first final of the year, after they defeated Rosedale Park last weekend. The final saw David Simpson and Tim Godman be victorious in securing the pre-season Gerrards Cross Super Pairs, by defeating the Hayes-based team. Played on a blustery afternoon, the club won on all four rinks with the top rink being David Hall, Keith Young and Anthony Parrot. The competition sharpened the players for the coming season where expectations at The Cross are very high. The victory in the comp is also another feather in the club’s hat, as they have previously beaten Princess Risborough, Richings Park and Bassetbury Manor – some of the best teams in the region.
Quincy Police Make Arrest in Friday Night Stabbing Incident
Quincy Police make an arrest in connection with a stabbing incident Friday night.
Officers were called to the 5th and Chestnut area just after 9 p.m. Friday in response to a fight and a stabbing.
The victim of the stabbing was taken to a hospital for treatment.
An investigation led to the issuing of a warrant for 20 year old Keith Young on attempted murder charges.
Young was taken into custody just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Jersey.
An additional investigation resulted in additional charges of home invasion and aggravated unlawful restraint against Young.
Top-ranked Brazil and Lithuania to meet in goalball group stages at Tokyo 2020 Monday, 10 May 2021
Rio 2016 gold medallists Lithuania are set to face world champions Brazil in the men’s goalball group stages at Tokyo 2020 after the tournament draw was made today.
The group stage draw was conducted at the headquarters of Tokyo 2020 at Harumi Island Triton Square Tower Y.
Tokyo 2020 sports director Mikako Kotani drew the 10 men’s and women’s teams in their respective draws.
Brazil and Lithuania provide the headline match in Pool A of the men’s competition, with the teams occupying first and second place respectively in the world rankings.
By Karen Peattie TWO contracts worth £60 million have been awarded for the Aberdeen Harbour expansion project (AHEP) as it nears completion later this year. Van Oord will act as the principal contractor for the 550-metre South Breakwater while Scottish-based construction firm Beattie FRC will build the concrete Crown Wall along the length of the North Breakwater. Both structures will provide critical protection for vessels and operations, ultimately protecting vessels berthed in the harbour from the elements and a “one in 300-year” storm. Keith Young, AHEP project director at Aberdeen Harbour board, said: “The construction of the South Breakwater and Crown Wall form a significant part of the final 30 per cent of construction, and I look forward to seeing the structures take shape in the coming months.
