Man, 28, dies after he’s shot several times on city street, cops say

A 28-year-old man died early Wednesday after he was shot multiple times on a street in Camden, authorities said.
Mahlon Kellum, of Camden, was found by police who were called about 2:30 a.m. to the intersection of 6th and Viola Streets on a report of a shooting, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer.
Kellum was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries, Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said in a statement.
“The shooting remains under investigation and detectives are working to determine who is responsible,” the statement said.
CAMDEN - A city man was fatally shot here Tuesday, ending a period of more than six weeks without deadly violence in Camden.
Lamar Maye, 46, was found shortly after 4 p.m. in a car on the 1200 block of Lake Shore Drive, according to the Camden County Prosecutor s Office.
Maye, who d been shot several times, died a short time later at an area hospital.
An investigation into the shooting was underway. No arrests were announced.
Maye s death was the city s seventh homicide this year and the first since Feb. 21. In contrast, Camden had two homicides at this time in 2020.

CAMDEN - Firefighters found a woman fatally stabbed in her city home on Saturday evening, authorities said.
Christine Pierce, 41, was discovered around 9 p.m. in an apartment on the 800 block of Haddon Avenue, according to the Camden County Prosecutor s Office.
Firefighters went to the home after a small stove fire activated smoke detectors, the prosecutor s office said in a statement.
Pierce was found unresponsive in another room with a puncture wound to her back. She was pronounced dead.at an area hospital,
An investigation was underway. No arrests were announced.
Pierce was the fourth person to die from violence in Camden this year, compared to two victims at the same time in 2020.
Firefighters find woman fatally stabbed after extinguishing apartment fire, police say

A 41-year-old woman was found Saturday evening fatally stabbed in a Camden apartment, the county prosecutor’s office announced Sunday.
City firefighters found Christina Pierce with a “puncture wound” in her back after they responded to an apartment on the 800 block of Haddon Avenue around 9 p.m., authorities said. The firefighters were called to the home for an activated smoke alarm.
Pierce was discovered unresponsive in a room in the apartment after the firefighters extinguished a small stove fire, officials said.
Firefighters and paramedics attempted CPR. They then rushed her to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.
CAMDEN - A Sicklerville man was fatally shot here Thursday night, authorities say.
Santino Thomas, 28, was found around 9 p.m. by police officers responding to a ShotSpotter activation on the 1300 block of Browning Street, according to the Camden County Prosecutor s Office.
Thomas, found lying on the ground between two cars in the Whitman Park neighborhood, was pronounced dead at an area hospital around 9:30 p.m. Detectives are currently working to identify any potential witnesses and searching for evidence that could help determine what led up to the shooting, the prosecutor s office said in a statement.
Thomas was the third person to be fatally shot in Camden this month. That compared to two violent deaths in the city at the same time in 2020.
