Govs sweep Mu**ay behind Booker s perfect night – The All State

ROBERT SMITH | APSU ATHLETICS APSU women’s basketball prides themselves on an elite three-point scoring ability; however, on Monday, Jan. 25, the low-post presence of D’Shara Booker was the deciding factor in the team’s 74-71 victory over Mu ay State. The game between the Governors and Racers was what you would expect in a Battle of the Border matchup a physical, back-and-forth contest with neither team able to create much separation. The largest lead for either team came early in the first quarter, when, after the Governors scored the game’s first points, the Racers went on a 12-0 run to take a double-digit lead just over four minutes into the ballgame. The Govs answered back with a 15-9 run of their own to close out the quarter and bring it within five.

Walker Hits Game Winner In UTC Women s Win Over Austin Peay

Walker Hits Game Winner In UTC Women s Win Over Austin Peay Tuesday, December 15, 2020 Chattanooga freshman Anna Walker is quickly putting her mark on the Mocs’ program, banking in a shot as time ran out to give UTC a 65-64 win over Austin Peay at the Winfield Dunn Center Tuesday night. UTC improves to 2-3 overall and Austin Peay evens its record at 2-2. I am proud of several people for stepping up,” Chattanooga head coach Katie Burrows said. “That group that ended the first quarter got us back in it.  Kallie [Searcy] did some good things, was in good position defensively, got some good rebounds, set some good screens and got to the foul line.  There are so many people I could pick out individually, but that was definitely a team win.

Govs fall at the buzzer in non-conference finale – The All State

The Governors led for nearly 90% of their game against the Mocs, but it’s the score at the final buzzer that goes into the record book. After a thrilling finish that resulted in an official’s review with no time remaining, APSU fell to Chattanooga 65-64. UTC broke the ice with the first points of the game with a deep three by Eboni Williams, but that would be the only lead the Mocs would have for the next 36 minutes.  Throughout the better part of the game, David Midlick’s Governors were able to play their brand of basketball smothering defense and elite outside scoring. This was put on display with a 13-0 run that the team went on midway through the second quarter.
