Kalamazoo Artists Featured in Upcoming Racial Healing Concert In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. addressed a crowd gathered at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. He spoke not only to the 250,000 people at the memorial, but to the entire nation, sending a message of hope, strength, and unceasing perseverance. 58 years after sharing his dream, our country still finds itself grappling with inequity. The senseless deaths of so many people of color have opened old wounds. Hard conversations have been had. It is time to heal. I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together. - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
