A gang of four, one of them armed, robbed a Heugh Road ice-cream shop at the weekend. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the men entered Gatti s Ice Cream at about 4pm on Saturday afternoon.
“As one of the assistants attempted to shut the door, the suspect slammed the door onto her finger, injuring her.”
She said one of the robbers was armed.
“He forced the female [staff members], aged 24 and 52, to the back of the shop, while the other suspects raided the shop.

Kabega Park police need the public’s assistance to help track down an elderly woman who has been missing since Christmas Day.
Martha du Toit, 74, from Lategan Street, Rowallan Park, disappeared shortly after a telephone conversation with her sister on December 25.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said Du Toit’s sister last saw her on October 4, but then received the Christmas Day phone call, only to be informed that her sister had left the city.

A 40-year-old Gqeberha man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a Sidwell business and stealing R30,000 worth of goods. Police spokesperson Capt Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the break-in had occurred between Tuesday and Wednesday at premises in Grant Road.
The back door was allegedly forced open and items including a computer, tools and power tools were stolen.

Nelson Mandela Bay police have once again advised motorists to steer clear of the R75 after early morning protests saw tyres being burnt in the vicinity.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said law enforcement officials had been on the scene since early Thursday morning after reports were received about the protest action.
