Agency pushes through OK less than two weeks before Biden inauguration Less than two weeks before the Biden Administration takes office, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services officials have approved Gov. Bill Lee’s controversial Medicaid block grant waiver making Tennessee the first state in the nation to fund its safety-net health care program with a fixed spending target.  The approved plan gives the state broad-ranging powers over the care of nearly 1.5 million Tennesseans. TennCare will receive a lump sum of money based on per-capita projections and the following year’s expected spending to run the program. If the state spends less than that amount, the savings will be split with the federal government.
