Boston Ballet presents an original take on
The Nutcracker with
The Gift. Inspired by Duke Ellington’s “Nutcracker Suite,” seven Boston Ballet company dancers have choreographed unique dances set to Ellington’s jazzy score. The company prepared for this program for months dividing into small groups and hosting socially-distanced rehearsals over Zoom.

Westport Country Playhouse, in partnership with WSHU Public Radio, will present a free-of-charge audio play, A Merry Little Christmas Carol, on Saturday, December 19, at noon, followed by a rebroadcast on Saturday, December 26, at 8 p.m. WSHU frequencies and locations are listed at wshu.org in the About Us drop-down menu.
UPDATE: The encore broadcast will be on Sunday, December 27, at 8 p.m. on WSHU (not Sat., Dec. 26 as originally stated). A Merry Little Christmas Carol is written and directed by Mark Shanahan, adapted from his play of the same name, and based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The holiday show runs approximately two hours and is appropriate for ages 6 and up.
