  HALIFAX Police in Cape Breton have charged a 23-year-old woman with several offences, including flight from police, after she allegedly fled from officers in Sydney, N.S. on Tuesday. Cape Breton Regional Police say on May 25, officers attempted to arrest Courtney Reid Boone, 23, for breaching the court-ordered conditions of her May 12 release. According to police, Boone was spotted in a vehicle on Robert Street. When police approached, she allegedly sped away to Victoria Road, East Broadway and then Lingan Road where police say she was driving at ‘high rates of speed’. Police say they did not pursue her due to concerns for public safety.

  HALIFAX Police in Cape Breton have charged a 65-year-old Ontario man who was allegedly driving while impaired and attempting to board the ferry to Newfoundland on Wednesday night. Cape Breton Regional Police says at approximately 11 p.m. on May 19, officers responded to reports of a possible impaired driver parked in the Marine Atlantic Terminal lineup, where employees had stopped him from boarding the ferry. Upon arriving, police say they arrested the man after noting signs of impairment and requested a breathalyzer test. He was charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of Over 80 mg. His vehicle was towed from the scene and his license automatically suspended.

Cape Breton police charge four Sydney residents with drug trafficking

  HALIFAX Police in Cape Breton have charged two women and two men, all from Sydney, N.S., with drug trafficking offences following two separate vehicle stops in the community. Cape Breton Regional Police say on May 17, officers arrested two women and a man after seizing “several packages of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, cash and a stun gun” from a vehicle after pulling it over on Francis Street in Sydney. All three occupants of the vehicle, a 26-year-old woman, a 32-year-old woman, and a 31-year-old man, were arrested and later released. They will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on July 12 to face charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Cocaine, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. The man faces additional charges for Possession of Proceeds of Crime and Possession of a Weapon while Prohibited.
