CADIZ The Harrison County Health Department will begin to administer the county’s first round of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines by early next week.
Garen Rhome, administrator of the health department, said the department received 100 doses of the vaccine Monday morning. The vaccine will be administered to the county’s health care workers, county home staff and residents, paramedics and some of the health department staff including the public health nurses.
“The bulk of our tier 1a responsibilities here locally is our EMS and our residents and staff at the county home,” he said.
Rhome said the department is hoping to begin administering the doses to recipients by early next week.

UNIONPORT A local man’s support of and commitment to an area fire and rescue department was acknowledged posthumously with the presentation of a special plaque to his family.
