Ofsted outstanding schools in BCP to be reinspected

MORE than a dozen outstanding Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole schools are set to face inspectors for the first time since controversial exemptions were axed. From September, Ofsted will resume inspecting schools across the country and for the first time in almost a decade, those deemed outstanding will also face compulsory routine visits. Figures from the education watchdog, covering 90 of the conurbations primary and secondary schools, show that 20 received an outstanding rating the last time they were inspected. Under rules introduced in 2012, those schools became exempt from being routinely reinspected and only faced scrutiny if concerns were raised about their performance.

Youngsters bring Christmas cheer to residents of retirement complex

THE festive spirit arrived early at McCarthy and Stone’s Clarendon House Retirement Living development on Tower Road in Branksome Park. It was thanks to a special delivery from Poole pupils within The Education Alliance of Canford Heath (TEACH). Children from Canford Heath Junior School, Canford Heath Infant School, Haymoor Junior School and Ad Astra Infant School, created over 30 Christmas cards containing festive messages. Nicki Beswarick of McCarthy and Stone Southern, said: “This year it was important for us to get creative and find new ways of bringing the community together, despite the challenges we’re all facing. The school pupils have gone above and beyond to produce some incredible Christmas cards, which have truly brought some Yuletide comfort and festive cheer to homeowners at Clarendon House.
