Phillip, AP The electric power grid manager for most of Texas has issued its first conservation alert of the summer, calling on users to dial back energy consumption to avert an emergency. The Energy Reliability Council of Texas issued the alert shortly after midday Monday, saying many forced generation outages and potential record June demand is squeezing the power supply. Following the February deep freeze that nearly collapsed the Texas power grid, state Republican leaders promised to fix the grid’s problems fast. As it turns out, the fixes were half-fast.

Downham Market Lions Club to close due to low membership after 42 years of service | Updated: 10:41, 21 December 2020 A community group which has supported a West Norfolk town for more than four decades, has announced it will be closing at the end of December. The idea to close Downham Market Lions Club was first mooted in September due to a low and ageing membership, and a decision has now been confirmed to disband the service. Formed in 1977 and chartered in March 1978 to help the local community, both financially and practically, the club has been integral to Downham over many years.
