Melbourne CBD safe-injecting room proposal faces council fight

Advertisement A Melbourne city councillor has moved a motion opposing a safe-injecting room anywhere in the CBD, arguing such a centre would cause the city’s “economic decimation”. Cr Roshena Campbell made the move on Thursday and the council will now vote on Tuesday over whether to fight a proposed second safe-injecting room on the grounds it would thwart the CBD’s post-COVID recovery. The proposed site of the new safe-injecting room at 248 Flinders Street, Melbourne. The Age revealed this week that a new service is expected be located opposite Flinders Street Station, near popular al fresco dining laneway Degraves Street.

Melbourne s second safe-injecting room to be modelled on King s Cross facility

Advertisement Melbourne’s second safe-injecting room on Flinders Street is likely to be modelled on Sydney’s smaller, discreet facility and, along with measures to win over local traders, will include community health services. Lord mayor Sally Capp gave her qualified support to the proposed facility, which would be near Flinders Street Station and the entrance to Degraves Street, saying medically supervised injecting rooms saved lives. Combating addiction is incredibly complex but reducing drug use on our streets would benefit local residents, businesses and visitors to our city,” Cr Capp said on Wednesday.

AmeriSourceBergen Executive Chris Zimmerman on Email Mocking Opioid Crisis in West Virginia Trial

SOPA ImagesGetty Images In June of 2004, the Department of Justice released to the Snohomish Public Utility District in Washington state some tapes from the Enron energy company regarding an energy crisis that had hit up and down the west coast. The tapes were obtained because various victimized localities were trying to claw back the money that Enron had gouged out of them through its criminal manipulation of the energy markets. If there were four people in the country who still didn’t believe that Enron was a pack of thieving bastards, these tapes were the final railroad spikes in the company’s coffin. From CBS News:

RocknRolla movie review & film summary (2008)

Now streaming on: I m looking at RocknRolla and I m thinking, why make a movie about stealing a parcel of London real estate, when you could make a movie about stealing a trillion bucks of real estate? British gangsters may dress better than Wall Street overlords and be more colorful, but they just don t think big. After watching Richard S. Fuld, CEO of Lehman Brothers, squirm before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee (HOGREFORM) as he explained why he deserved $350 million for guiding his company into bankruptcy, I found it refreshing to watch hoodlums squirm because they might get personally kneecapped without even so much as a golden hang-glider.
