The Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners continued with Fiscal Year 2022 budget presentations as five groups made presentations to the board last Wednesday, February 24. Those five groups were the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, Cape Cod Municipal Training Academy and AmeriCorps Cape Cod as well as the county’s Dredge Program and Facilities Department. AmeriCorps Cape Cod partners with the 15 Cape towns to implement natural resource management projects while also focusing on disaster preparedness and response, environmental education and volunteer engagement. With an operating budget of roughly $680,000, AmeriCorps Cape Cod is now operating under the Cape Cod Center for Public Safety Training rather than as a standalone organization. The group’s Deputy Director Andrew Platt presented the budget, which stems from two primary factors: a federal grant and the county’s 1:1 match.
