Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has suggested that clubs should be allowed to substitute in emergency players during games as part of the AFLâs proposed concussion sub rule.
Hardwick believes the 23rd man should apply to players who suffer head knocks and injuries mid-match.
âFrom my point of view, once again, to get a concussion sub and then a guy breaks his leg four minutes later, why shouldnât you be able to use the sub for that reason also? Hardwick told
Fox Footyâs AFL 360 on Monday night.
âWe do name four emergencies so for example if I lose a tall, weâll always name a tall in the emergency list, well letâs go and get the tall bloke out of the grandstand.

Caroline Wilson is of the opinion that Alastair Clarkson could take over and be the saviour for Carlton in the coming years.
Wilson feels that the four-time Hawthorn premiership coach may depart the club to take over at the Blues if current coach David Teague does not perform.
Clarkson, who is contracted with the Hawks until 2022, is a strong candidate to become Carltonâs next coach according to Wilson who explained her thought process on
Channel 9âs Footy Classified.
âI think David Teague is under as much pressure as any coach going into this year,â Wilson said.

Last year: –
It was a tough year for everyone in football, but AFLW had it particularly tough, with the 2020 season abruptly brought to an end a fortnight before the Grand Final. One of Gillon McLachlan’s few regrets last year was not to somehow find a way for there to be an AFLW flag decider. But AFLW has responded and is enjoying a great season under Livingstone’s watch despite the massive challenges of a rapidly changing fixture and the move to ticketing. She has also overseen changes to the talent pathways, which now go from Auskick through to AFL level in the same way as the men. AFLW is undeniably a better spectacle now than last year and the seasons that preceded it, to the absolute credit of Livings

We are now less than a week away from Round 1 and there are few things sweeter than the first team reveals of the year … even if they’re no longer all coming through on Thursday nights.
The AAMI Community Series gave players a chance to prove they’re worthy of being in the mix for an early game, while injuries in those games may have opened the door for others.
Here are the players around the league who might just be bolting into Round 1 calculations.
