Drunk Bus in Kent, Ohio, home to Kent State University.
The comedy-drama focuses on Michael (played by Charlie Tahan, best-known for the Netflix series
Ozark), a recent college graduate stuck in Kent, where he drives the campus “drunk bus” in a loop each night, picking up inebriated passengers. Things change for him when he s befriended by a tattoo-faced Samoan-American security guard, Pineapple (Pineapple Tangaroa). The movie co-stars Kara Hayward (
Moonrise Kingdom), comedian Dave Hill and Will Forte (
Saturday Night Live and
The Last Man on Earth).
Written by Chris Molinaro, it’s actually based on LaGanke’s experience of driving the campus bus at Kent State, where Tangaroa was his security detail.
The best way to bring visitors back to upstate New York is through their stomachs.
That is the thinking behind a new initiative to bolster tourism, ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic, in western and central New York, the Finger Lakes region and the Southern Tier.
The Upstate Eats Food Trail, a 225-mile “gastronomical road trip,” stretches from Buffalo to Rochester to Syracuse and Binghamton, exposing travelers to unique local cuisine and attractions.
The concept grew from talks that began 11 months ago among officials from four tourism organizations Visit Buffalo Niagara, Visit Rochester, Visit Syracuse and Visit Binghamton.
Even back then, “well before any vaccines were on the horizon,” it was clear that some sort of campaign would be needed to help address the devastating effects of the pandemic on the hospitality industry, Ed Healy, vice president of Visit Buffalo Niagara, said at a Wednesday morning press conference held via Zoom.

New York tourism experts say the great American road trip is back, and they re counting on people s pent-up desire for travel and cravings for regional food specialties to lure them upstate this year. That s what our data tells us, said Ross Levi, vice president and executive director of tourism at I Love New York, who added that people want to travel to close by destination reachable by car. Tourism organizations from Buffalo to Binghamton are collaborating on a new campaign called Upstate Eats Trail. The digital travel guide directs visitors to dozens of restaurants, taverns, cafes, and roadside stands across the region.

Canandaigua Daily Messenger
It was the worst of times, it was the strangest of times. In 2020, against the backdrop of historic demonstrations and social unrest and a once-in-a-lifetime health crisis, Canandaigua officials had to figure out what to do about a kangaroo yes, you read that right and a wandering bear. That s not all. Rochester put a public servant on a doughnut, was ready to believe that animals had escaped from the Seneca Park Zoo and watched a Zamboni machine go up in flames. So many anomalous occurrences. Here are a few that stood out.
