Jayde Crowe excelled academically in high school, but a career in science wasn t one she ever imagined would be possible.
No-one in her family had ever been to university. I come from a poor background and both my parents weren t able to finish school themselves, said Ms Crowe, who grew up in south-west Queensland. I was always interested in STEM [science, technology, engineering and mathematics] growing up, but I didn t have any avenues to explore that.
