B & M Bargains Store Blackburn A LONG-TERM drug user who stole to fund her habit was given a chance by magistrates after they heard of the progress she was making.
Blackburn magistrates were told Catherine Houghton was engaging with the agencies and, for the first time in a long time, making an effort. Houghton, 35, of Infirmary Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to stealing an electric razor from B & M Bargains on June 16 and two DVD players worth £40 from the same store on July 9. She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £60 compensation. The chairman of the magistrates said they had been impressed with the work Houghton was doing with Inspire, the drink and drug agency.
