The Christ of the Ozarks Statue, a Eureka Springs tourist attraction famous for its larger-than-life size, gained new notoriety Friday morning after activist group Indecline placed a banner reading God Bless Abortions across the statues 65-foot wingspan.
Kent Butler, director of operations for the Great Passion Play where the statue is located, said the banner was removed by 9:20 a.m. Friday, July 9. Carroll County Sheriffs Office chief deputy Maj. Jerry Williams said deputies responded to the Passion Play on Friday afternoon to get information for a report on criminal trespass.

A political activist art group hung a 45-foot banner reading âGod Bless Abortionsâ on the 65-foot tall Christ of the Ozarks statue that âstands as a symbol of hopeâ in northwest Arkansas on Thursday night.
Members of the activist art collective called Indecline disguised themselves as construction workers to sneak onto the property and used pulleys and climbing gear to hang the banner on the Christ of the Ozarks statue in Eureka Springs that was erected in 1966.Â
