407-912-0132 Orlando, FL – The Florida Department of Health in Orange County has upgraded the recent health caution for Lake Emerald to a Health Alert due to the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxin in the lake. This is in response to a site visit and water sample taken on July 21, 2021 by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The public should exercise caution in and around Lake Emerald in Orlando near South Mills Avenue and East Gore Street. Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautions: Do not drink, swim, wade, use personal watercraft, water ski or boat in waters where there is a visible bloom.

Childhood immunizations are down by more than 10 percent in the past year here in Florida. 7/16/2021 - Childhood immunizations are down at an alarming rate. Some experts fear that without a change, more life-threatening diseases could arise. Statewide the immunization rates for children under the age of two had been strong for years. In 2021 the percentage dropped to 79.3% – a significant change from a year earlier at 93.4% and well below the state’s annual goal of 90% immunity.

  ORLANDO, FL – The Florida Department of Health in Orange County has issued a Health Alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxins in Lake Willisara. This is in response to a water sample taken on June 21, 2021. The public should exercise caution in and around Lake Willisara. Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautions: Do not drink, swim, wade, use personal watercraft, water ski or boat in waters where there is a visible bloom. Wash your skin and clothing with soap and water if you have contact with algae or discolored or smelly water. Keep pets away from the area. Waters where there are algae blooms are not safe for animals. Pets and livestock should have a different source of water when algae blooms are present.
