South east London boasts some of the capital s best-loved pubs. But it has not been exempt from the sweep of pubs closing across the UK over recent decades. It has been estimated that more than 2,000 pubs across the UK may have had to end trading permanently in 2020 as lockdowns forced universal closures. This would be more than double the average number of pubs lost in recent years. With restrictions having eased last month to allow pubs to open if they have suitable outdoor space - the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has been urging people to support their local pub.
More than £10,000 seized in county line investigation Two men have been arrested and charged as part of an investigation into a suspected county line operating from London and into parts of Kent. The arrests are in connection with supplying heroin and crack cocaine in areas including Tunbridge Wells, Folkestone, Dover and Canterbury. Kent Police executed a search warrant at a property in Catford, where officers found more than 260 grams of Class A drugs, on January 28. A firearm and ammunition were also seized, along with a lock knife and machete. Dequan Brown, aged 23, of Catford Hill, Catford was arrested and taken into custody.
