A small team didn t stop Sacred Heart from showing up big in the standings at the Cole Camp High School math contest on Feb. 28.
Competing for the first time this season, each mathlete on the SHS freshman/sophomore team of six earned multiple medals. Sacred Heart placed in the top five 15 times in individual competition and took home two team medals.
Included among the 15 individual medals, Mariah Van Leer earned top freshman and Kate Carney earned top sophomore. In class competition, the three-member sophomore team took first place and the three-member freshman team took 2nd place. These students did an amazing job today, said Mrs. Kara Hill, SHS math instructor and math team sponsor. They were up against five other schools and about 30 students per grade level. We re looking forward to seeing how things take shape at the Kaysinger Math Competition on March 8.
Lady Gremlin Swimmers Take Fourth at Belton
The girls competed against Belton, Smith-Cotton and Marshall.
“As usual, they had an amazing attitude & worked hard to achieved some new personal records,” stated Coach Michelle Steger. Camille Schear: 200 Free with a time of 2:00.30 earning a 1st place. She also was first in the 200 IM Kate Carney: 500 Free with a time of 6:53.34 earning 4th place in the 500 Free & earning a 6th place finish 100 breaststroke Arly Ponce: earning a 2nd place finish in the 500 Free & a 4th place finish in the 50 Free Kelsey Hudson: 200 IM with a time of 3:00.05 earning an 8th place finish & 10th in the backstroke.
