Downtown Troy BID holds 9th annual Sammy Awards virtually

TROY, N.Y. — The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District (BID) held the ninth annual Sammy Awards on Wednesday evening. Due to the pandemic, the event was virtual. The awards ceremony was emceed by Katie Hammon, BID executive director, and hosted at the Troy Innovation Garage. In addition to the usual categories of New Business of the Year, Established Business of the Year, and the Sammy Spirit Award, this year featured a new category, the Pivot Award.  The New Business of The Year award is presented to a business that has opened within the past year (2020) that has proven to be a stand-out in the downtown district and immersed themselves in the downtown community. This year s nominees were Bova Beauty Bar, Jacob Alejandro, and Primo Botanica.

More than 100 types of projects are eligible for Community Facilities funding. Vehicle crashes into home | News, Sports, Jobs

aharpster@lewistownsentinel.com LEWISTOWN- Emergency crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Sunday at 6:30 a.m., on 1409 US Hwy 522 North. It was reported that a vehicle had struck an occupied single-story residence with several trapped inside the residence. Crews arrived on scene and began to extricate the occupants of the residence and the vehicle operator. Police determined that a 2009 Audi operated by Katie Hammond, 31, of Lewistown, was traveling southbound on US 522 when it left the roadway and struck several parked cars before going airborne and crashed into the home of the Todaro family. The structure sustained severe damage. Hammond’s vehicle also sustained severe front-end damage. No occupants of the home were injured as a result of the crash. Hammond was transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for treatment.
