VFW Post 7890 leaders recognized various community members who received awards from the organization during the past year.

VFW Post 7890 in Cadiz is recognizing the work of Cadiz Fire Department Assistant Chief John Mitchell.
Mitchell was named the 2020 VFW Post 7890 Firefighter of the Year during a ceremony Sunday afternoon. Mitchell has been a firefighter for more than 40 years. He has also served the Cadiz-Trigg County community in many areas in addition to his work with the fire department.
Mitchell was nominated for the honor by Cadiz Fire Chief Thomas Futtrell.
