A MAN who was allegedly brutally assaulted in a Lockyer Valley park said his attacker hurled racial slurs at him before repeatedly punching him in the head.
Andrew Shih was walking his dog in the evening on Wednesday, January 20 at Dawson Phipps Park in Gatton.
“Suddenly, a racist man came out of nowhere yelling at me ‘go back to where you’re from, I’m gonna … kill you’,” he wrote on Facebook.
“He then beat me down to the ground and kept punching my head.
“I was eventually sent to the hospital and hospitalised overnight.
“I suffered from severe concussion with some memory loss and had multiple bruises and abrasions on my face, knees, elbows, hands, and hip.

Subscriber only Gatton police are appealing for witnesses after a local man walking his dog was allegedly assaulted resulting in the male victim being transported to hospital with head injuries. Gatton Police Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Rowland Browne said police attended an incident that occurred at Dawson Phipps Park in Gatton on Wednesday, January 20. The park is located of Larkin and Hunter Streets, near the Regis Aged Care Home - which is not connected to the incident. Senior Sergeant Browne said the victim was walking with his dog, alone in the park, when he was punched in the head and knocked down .

Subscriber only Gatton police have warned residents to lock their cars after a recent spike in vehicle break-ins in town and other suburban streets. Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Rowland Browne said five cars were entered by thieves overnight on Monday and Tuesday morning. Senior Sergeant Browne said in almost every case the cars were unlocked and the offender(s) are entering the car and taking anything of perceived value . This includes wallets, change, id s and glasses, he said. Gatton Police Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Rowland Browne. Senior Sergeant Browne said the incidents this week followed an increase in the last couple of months of stealing from cars in Gatton town and some of the top end suburban streets near the local schools - including Davey and Woodlands roads.
The 17-year-old male was charged after he blew a reading of 0.045 at 6am, Sergeant Browne said.
On December 17, a 49-year-old male was busted for drink driving and disqualified driving after he blew a reading of 0.134, more than twice the legal limit on Villis Road, College View just before midnight.

Two days later, a 32-year-old female was charged with drink driving after Gatton police caught her on Cochrane Street where she recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.099.
Sergeant Browne reiterated warnings that police would be out in force over the New Year’s long weekend.
