Jo Farrell with four new sergeants at Durham Constabulary s HQ in Durham FOUR police officers who have earned their stripes as Durham’s newest sergeants have been congratulated by Chief Constable Jo Farrell. A total of 22 officers passed the force’s February promotion boards and ten of them were women. Four of the newly-appointed sergeants joined the Chief Constable at Durham police’s headquarters in Aykley Heads yesterday, on International Women’s Day – a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Among those at a socially distanced ceremony were Alexandra Gibson and Wendy Bake, who are both response sergeants, Sarah Hindmarsh, from crime and justice command, and Kezi Smith, who works in safeguarding.

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Maika and Maritza Moulite recently sat on the edge of the stage at the North Miami Beach High School’s auditorium. The Miami writers of Haitian descent said it was there where their dream of becoming published authors was born.
They have published two books and they are working on their third. The graduate students said New York Times best-selling author Brad Meltzer, of thrillers like “The Escape Artist” and the “Ordinary People Change the World” children’s book series, planted the seed of inspiration.
