CAPE TOWN - South Africa is to close 10 of its diplomatic missions abroad. They include embassies, high commissions and consulates.
Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor on Thursday said the move was made necessary due to the financial constraints her department was facing.
Affected missions include those in the Vatican, Peru, Finland, Oman, Romania and Chicago in the United States.

CAPE TOWN - Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams said legal battles over the release of what s called spectrum should be settled out of court.
She told Parliament on Tuesday the litigation was holding back the country’s economic recovery.

The minister said litigation over spectrum and the licensing of WOAN – the wireless open access network – was hobbling South Africa’s economic recovery.
Treasury was taking part in public hearings on the Pension Funds Amendment Bill which is aimed at giving people who find themselves in dire financial straits a chance to access their pension savings to ease their distress without first having to quit their jobs.
