Three people died in Odisha and one person was killed in West Bengal on Wednesday as Cyclone Yaas hit India’s eastern coast, bringing heavy rain and high-speed winds, PTI reported.
The cyclone made landfall around 8.30 am at Dhamra in Odisha’s Bhadrak district. As per the India Meteorological Department’s update at 8.15 pm, the storm lay centred over north Odisha. It is likely to move north-west wards in the next three hours and weaken into a deep depression, the weather department added.

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], May 25 (ANI): In view of the very severe cyclonic storm Yaas likely to make landfall on the coastal areas of Odisha, evacuation drive is on a war footing and is expected to be completed by evening while rescue teams have been deployed with high-end equipment to carry out effective and prompt rescue operations, informed Y K Jethwa, ADGP (Law and Order).
