Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members: This afternoon, our school resource officer, Officer Skiba, was notified by the Scottville Police Department of alleged incidents that took place this week in Scottville. The District was advised that the Scottville Police Department was working with Mason County Central Schools to investigate a suspicious vehicle, described as a black truck or black SUV. It is alleged that the driver of this vehicle approached an elementary aged female student yesterday as she was walking to school. It is alleged that the driver asked the student if she wanted a ride before the student ran away toward the school. The District was also notified today that earlier in the week, another similar alleged incident involving a black truck or black SUV was reported to the Scottville Police Department. Mason County Central, West Shore Community College Hire School Resource Officer

9 & 10 News December 11, 2020 Officer Steve Case is undergoing training for the position. Once he’s done, Case will act as the shared school resource officer for Mason County Central and West Shore Community College. The superintendent of Mason County Central, Jeff Mount, says it will be great addition to the Safety Planning Team. “Now we will have somebody that can be dedicated to serve on the Mason County School Saftey Planning Team along with myself. Have more of a police view of it versus an educator view of it which is really important too, because you really wanna have multiple lenses looking at your emergency operations plan,” said Mount.

School resource officer hired to serve Scottville, WSCC, MCC

SCOTTVILLE — The Scottville Police Department, West Shore Community College and Mason County Central Schools finally have their shared school resource officer. Officer Steve Case was introduced by Police Chief Matt Murphy during Monday’s meeting of the city commission. Now in training, Case will fill a role that’s been in the works for quite some time. The position is the result of a three-way agreement between the City of Scottville, the college and the MCC school district. Once trained, Case will provide law enforcement services at WSCC’s Victory Township campus, as well as within the City of Scottville and at MCC, as part of a contract between the city and both schools.
