Funeral directors see spike in deaths linked to Covid-19

PORT JERVIS - Funeral homes have more death calls these days, say funeral directors in both Port Jervis and Milford, Pa. The rise has coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic, but the cause of death identified has not always been consistent with that.
“We always ask whether they’re Covid-19, but none have been confirmed to be Covid since one in July,” said Doreen Auchmoody of Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis.
However, she saw a 50 percent increase in death calls in October and November over last year, so she deduces that Covid-19 is the cause.
