Dr. Leigh T. Wilcox, 70, of Jefferson (Delaware Co.), passed away at his home on Friday morning, July 16, 2021 following a rapid battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on December 9, 1950 in Fulton, Leigh was the son of the late Charles Betts Wilcox and Helen Wilson (Thrall) Wilcox.
Leigh received his Associates degree from SUNY Canton in 1970 before graduating from Cornell University in 1975 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Leigh, known affectionately as âDoc,â began practicing veterinary medicine when becoming a partner in a private practice in Lowville, NY, in 1975. He then followed his passion to teach and became an instructor at SUNY Canton, eventually being named as the dean of Veterinary Sciences and later as the acting Vice President of SUNY Canton. He went on to become President of Mater Dei College in Ogdensburg, NY. Doc moved on to become a professor of Veterinary Science at SUNY Delhi. Our Savior Lutheran Church officially celebrated its grand opening.
“I’m shaky inside,” June Abercrombie, one of the original founding members, said. “It’s so amazing.”
After the Camp Fire destroyed nearly everything, June experienced something that took two and a half long years to accomplish.
The opening of the new Our Savior Lutheran Church.
“The people here have done an amazing job,” June continued. “Amazing job. I don’t know how they did what they did but they did it.”

Two Proud Boys accused of leading a mob to Congress followed a bloody path to get there. Law enforcement did little to stop them. A protester was burning an American flag outside the 2016 Republican convention in Cleveland when Joseph Biggs rushed to attack. Jumping a police line, he ripped the man s shirt off and started pounding, he boasted that night in an online video.
But police charged the flag burner with assaulting Biggs. The city later paid US$225,000 to settle accusations that police had falsified their reports out of sympathy with Biggs, who went on to become a leader of the far-right Proud Boys.
