What do you get when you cross a Jamaican and a Hawaiian? Just ask Legacy Fighting Alliance featherweight Kamuela Kirk.
“I was born in Hawaii,” Kirk told Combat Press. “My dad was raised there. You know, [he] met my mom, and they had my sister and I. My mom’s side of the family is actually Jamaican. So, a Hawaiian-Jamaican crossover would be Jawaiian. We were listening to the radio in Hawaii, and there’s a genre of music called Jawaiian music. It’s basically Hawaiian music with some Jamaican influence to it. They were talking about Jawaiian music on the radio, and my dad was like, ‘Hey, you guys are Jawaiian.’ It was just something that kind of stuck: Jawaiian boy.”
Misha Cirkunov and Gillian Robertson have both tested positive for marijuana following their recent UFC fights in Nevada.
Cirkunov lost via first-round TKO to Ryan Spann at Vegas 21: Edwards vs. Muhammad, while Robertson dropped a decision to Miranda Maverick at UFC 260: Miocic vs. Ngannou 2. Unfortunately, not only did both fighters lose their fights, but they have both tested positive for marijuana and have been handed temporary suspensions by the Nevada Athletic Commission. It is worth noting that while many states don’t test for marijuana anymore, Nevada is a state that still does, and Cirkunov and Robertson were nabbed.
MMA journalist Damon Martin first reported the suspensions for Cirkunov and Robertson.
Florida State Boxing Commission removes marijuana from prohibited list

The Florida State Boxing Commission officially removed marijuana, a previously banned substance for MMA fighters and boxers in the state, from its prohibited list Tuesday. Right move by FL Commission, Jeff Novitzky, UFC s senior VP of athlete health and performance, said on Twitter in response to the news. They took a close look at the science behind THC excretion and saw it has little to no correlation to being impaired. Hopefully other commissions will follow FL’s lead and the recommendation of ABC Medical Committee.
The move comes nearly three months after the UFC and USADA announced they had essentially eliminated marijuana use as a violation. State commissions, however, are their own entities and still hold the right to fine, punish or change fight results as they see fit.

This Saturday night at UFC Vegas 23, welterweight prospect Sasha Palatnikov makes his highly-anticipated return to the Octagon. A veteran of UAE Warriors who packs a powerful punch, Palatnikov made his debut in the big show last year at UFC 255 when he picked up one of the biggest upset victories of 2020 when he finished Louis Cosce in the third round via TKO. This weekend, he returns to the Octagon when he takes on Impa Kasanagay on the UFC Vegas 23 undercard. Itâs an excellent fight between two legitimate welterweight prospects and the winner will likely be in line for a bigger-name their next time out.
