Bridport flats for emergency homeless accommodation

Entrance to West Rivers House (Boldwood House) off West Allington Bridport Picture: Google DORSET Council is to go ahead with flats in a Dorset property, although some may be too small to meet national minimum standards. The council’s area planning committee has agreed a proposal to divide four flats into eight at West Rivers House, 13 West Allington on the outskirts of Bridport town centre. The flats are intended for short-term emergency homeless accommodation. Planners heard that some will be 22 square metres – much less than the national ‘technical’ minimum standard of 37 square metres for single-bed units, although some of the West Allington units are listed as ‘studio flats’ for which there is said to be no national standard.

Bridport Youth Club returns for the first time this year | Bridport and Lyme Regis News

A YOUTH club has welcomed back the young people of the town for the first time this year. Bridport Youth Club opened its doors last week for the first time since the third national lockdown began in January. On Wednesday, April 21 young people met at the centre as Covid restrictions were eased. Heather Marston, youth development worker, said: “This was very successful evening. Twenty three people turned up to enjoy a sports session downstairs - including dodge ball which they love - and a craft and art session upstairs, plus the ever popular tuck shop.” Current restrictions mean that numbers will be limited to 30 a session, but there is no longer a need to pre-book, and those wanting to attend can just turn up.
