A convicted child rapist who went missing for seven months before being discovered staying in a tent near Felixstowe has been sent back to jail for a year.
Mark Stevenson appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, via video link from Norwich prison, to be sentenced for breaching a lifetime sex offender notification order requiring him to notify police of any change of circumstances.
Stevenson was sent to a young offender institution for seven years at Sheffield Crown Court in March 1996, aged 16, for two counts of rape and one of child abduction.

Mark Stevenson appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, via video link from Norwich prison, to be sentenced for breaching a lifetime sex offender notification order requiring him to notify police of any change of circumstances.

Thomas Thorby was jailed at Ipswich Crown Court for the violent attack

A 21-year-old man who attacked a married couple after drinking at the pub all day has been branded a mindless thug by a judge.
Ipswich Crown Court heard how Thomas Thorby inflicted the extremely violent attack on the couple in Hadleigh on December 1, 2019.
The couple were walking home along Angel Street opposite the Eight Bells pub around 11.45pm before turning into Bradfield Avenue, Jerry Hayes, prosecuting, told the court.
They were confronted by two men, and one of the men, Thorby, said words to the effect of Who have we got here then? , Mr Hayes said.

Aaron Davis was jailed for three years

An Ipswich drug-dealer who left a trail of bank notes in his wake after they fell out of his pocket during a police chase has been jailed for three years.
Police officers stopped an Audi A3 driven by Aaron Davis in Yeoman Close, Ipswich and when they approached the vehicle they noticed a strong smell of cannabis, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
When Davis got out of the car, he was initially compliant.
But when a police officer removed her handcuffs with the intention of putting them on him, he had run off in the direction of a footpath.
