Parents whose children attend the Kellett School, one of the pricey international schools that has been linked to a new cluster centered on the business and expatriate community, received emails from administrators about the forced quarantine orders on Friday. A class at Kellett numbers around 20 students.

Alarm spread among Hong Kong’s business and expatriate community as a coronavirus outbreak linked to a gym widened and hundreds of people including children were told to go to government centers for quarantine that can last 14 days.
The Department of Health reported 47 new cases linked to the gym, Ursus Fitness, on Friday. Seven were connected to staff and their close contacts, while the remaining 40 were customers. Confirmed cases tied to the gym in Sai Ying Pun, a bustling neighborhood on Hong Kong Island, stand at 64.
“We can’t say the outbreak is under control, I can’t predict how bad it will be,” Department of Health official Chuang Shuk-kwan said at a briefing Friday. “We are still tracing the contacts.”

Anyone going to the gym in Hong Kong must wear a mask from midnight on Thursday (March 11), after a “super-spreading” coronavirus cluster linked to a popular fitness centre in the city affected international schools, banks and other gyms, and resulted in more than 240 people being quarantined.
In a statement, the government said the rule would be in force for six days. Previously, apart from those in group classes, people working out at a gym were not required to wear masks.
The move came as a chronically ill 70-year-old woman died on Thursday, after getting the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine on March 2, while a 67-year-old man, who took the jab on the same day, remained in critical condition after he collapsed at noon.
