MEMPHIS, Tenn. The homeless are some of Memphis most at risk to disease, especially Covid-19.
Efforts to get them access to the vaccine are underway by the Shelby County Health Department, City of Memphis, and the Hospitality Hub. Mobile vaccine sites have also helped reach this vulnerable population.
Constance Abbey is one local organization dedicated to helping the unhoused. LB Walker, the organization s director of operations, said getting these people vaccinated can play a major role in ending the pandemic.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. The FDA and CDC are pausing the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine out of caution. Reports found six of the nearly 7 million who took it had side effects of blood clots.
The first thing doctors want you to know is your chance of getting one of these rare blood clots is less than one in a million. They point out there are birth control prescriptions available right now where a woman s odds of clotting are 1 in 10,000.
Ware selectman Keith Kruckas reelected

Unofficial results provided by the Ware town clerk show Kruckas with 360 votes.
A total of four candidates were seeking two seats on the board.
The other winner is Caitlin McCarthy, who had not previously held public office in Ware.
The unofficial results show incumbent selectman Alan Whitney losing his seat by four votes to McCarthy.
McCarthy received 313 votes, Whitney 309 votes, and challenger Joshua Kusnierz, 290 votes.
Asked what was key to victory, Kruckas said: “people see what I’ve been doing the last three years, and doing it; there needs to be accountability.”
Contacted Tuesday, Whitney said he does not plan to seek a recount.

MEMPHIS, Tenn Despite the busy day at the soon-to-be mass vaccine site at the Pipkin Building, there are still thousands of appointments available.
So, how are FEMA and the City of Memphis going to accomplish a goal of 3,000 shots per day?
FEMA spokesperson Darrell Habisch said transparency and accessibility are key. The vaccine is proven to be effective, the efficacy rate is very high, especially with the Pfizer vaccines that are being delivered here, Habisch said. Hesitancy has been the leading challenge in the vaccine rollout. Habisch said FEMA wants to encourage all to get it and know the offer to get vaccinated is available.
