In Downtown Memphis, you ll find Beale Street, Elvis Presley, and Main Street all covered in snow. Some of the city s most iconic landmarks were blanketed in a winter wonderland on Monday.  While not too many ventured out in the frigid temperatures, the weather was still a special surprise for some. Tourists Jay Parr and John Blake couldn t leave Memphis due to the weather but enjoyed the unexpected snowfall.  Never ever. Did not see this coming, Parr said.  The Mid-South doesn t often get snow like this, so people took full advantage of the fun. Many enjoyed the experience with snowball fights on the Main Street trolley tracks and snowboarding down Second Street.

For any driver, an incoming ice storm is a sign to stay off the roads as much as possible. Driver Charles Robinson said he s planning to be extra cautious Wednesday night going into Thursday as an ice storm is predicted for the Mid-South.  Staying home, staying out of the way, Robinson said.  Most drivers told Local 24 News they aren t so confident with driving on icy streets.  It’s dangerous, Robinson said. I think everybody should be at home when conditions like this happen.

Shelby County Health Department explains the long lines and shortage of vaccine is due to lack of manpower and organization

The Tennessee Department of Health fired back saying there isn t any shortchanging happening. Author: Caitlin McCarthy Updated: 10:10 PM CST January 27, 2021 MEMPHIS, Tenn The long lines for the COVID-19 vaccine at the Pipkin Building for the last two days have people frustrated.  Shelby County Health Department Director Alisa Haushalter apologized for the disorganization and back downed from claims Shelby County was being shortchanged in vaccines after Governor Bill Lee s office fired back at the claim.   I think it’s important from my end to really apologize to the public, Haushalter said. I know yesterday did not go as smoothly as we would want it to go.
