At the meeting Margery Jamison announced the annual election results. Joanne Dunlap, who served on the executive board as president in 2020, was reelected to another one-year term as chamber president, according to a news release from the chamber.

Blood donation opportunities offered Feb. 1-15 statewide Red Cross urges blood donation to maintain supply amid pandemic. Share PORTLAND The American Red Cross typically has a tough time keeping the blood supply strong during the winter months when inclement weather and seasonal illnesses can impact donors. This year the pandemic adds in another challenge in keeping the blood supply strong. The Red Cross is urging healthy individuals to make an appointment to give blood or platelets this month, according to a news release from the Red Cross. Every day there are thousands of patients who rely on lifesaving blood donations people like Leslie Johnson. In 2005, a farming accident left Johnson with broken bones and massive bleeding. In the first 24 hours after the accident, she received 10 units of blood and platelets. Additional transfusions and surgeries followed.

Gardiner Boys & Girls Club to take part in Summer Food Service Program Share GARDINER Boys & Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley is participating in the Summer Food Service Program Feb. 1 through Aug. 20. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service, according to a news release from the Gardiner-based childcare program. Meals will be provided, at a first-come, first-served basis, at the sites and times as follows: • Boys & Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley breakfast: 7-8 a.m. Monday-Friday; and

New Season of Maine Cabin Masters Begins in February

Another season Maine cabin makeovers will air on the DIY Network. Maine Cabin Masters will return to TV for another season of impressive cabin renovation wizardry. Going into their sixth season, Maine Cabin Masters follows Chase Morrill and his crew of builders as they give run-down cabins around the state a major facelift. The show returns with new episodes starting Monday, February 1, at 9 p.m. The crew has taken on some big jobs over the years of building in front of the cameras. Featured camp overhauls include work for The Travis Mills Foundation, Phish drummer Jon Fishman, Agassiz Village, even a playground cabin for theKennebec Valley YMCA in Augusta.
