Virtual 2021 Kenney Awards to be celebrated March 26

The Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards, the Kenney Awards, will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 26. To ensure the community and the deserving winners and finalists can be celebrated safely, the 2021 Kenney Awards, presented by Kennebec Savings Bank, will be held virtually. Tickets for the event are on sale on the Kennebec Valley Chamber’s website, according to a news release from the chamber based in Augusta.
The Kenney, named for the region it hails from, is awarded annually to area businesses and professionals that are deserving of the community’s attention and recognition. The Kenney’s will recognize six awardees, with three of the awards being determined by live voting at the event.
Kennebec Savings Bank, Kennebec Federal Savings merger imminent
The banks will become Kennebec Savings Bank when the merger is completed at 5:01 p.m. on March 5.

WATERVILLE Two central Maine banking institutions with similar names will merge March 5 after years of planning for the move.
Kennebec Savings Bank at 226 Main St. and Kennebec Federal Savings, also known as KFS, with a main office at 70 Main St. downtown and a branch office at 11 Washington St., will become Kennebec Savings Bank when the merger is complete at 5:01 p.m. on March 5, according to Andrew Silsby, president and chief executive officer of Kennebec Savings.

In honor of Black History Month, Waterville Creates, together with the Colby College Museum of Art, Kennebec Montessori School, Waterville Public Schools and the Family Violence Project, has created a special Art Kit for All to celebrate the artwork and legacy of Maine artist, Ashley Bryan. The February art kit is inspired by Bryan’s award-winning book, “Beautiful Blackbird,” a copy of which will be included in each art kit, according to a news release Shannon Haines, president and CEO of Waterville Creates.
