Ben is just one of many members behind the scenes that work to keep Snow Pond Community Arts in focus for students who long for a arts and music education.

United Way of Kennebec Valley holds virtual campaign celebration Event covered 2020 fundraising campaign, awards presented, board members recognized, new board members named. Share United Way of Kennebec Valley recently announced that it helped 57,534 people and raised $1,665,005 in the 2020 campaign. This growth represents a 3% increase in donations from 2019 and the most funds ever raised in support of UWKV’s 50 partner programs. Campaign co-chairman and -woman Chris and Sarah Voynik shared this news at UWKV’s Campaign Celebration, which attracted 87 people virtually on Jan. 27, according to a news release from Augusta-based United Way. Acknowledging the fact that this has been one of the hardest years the Kennebec Valley has ever faced, the Voyniks asked the community in September to simply give if they had the means to do so and announced a goal of helping 56,000 people. Michael Silver, the hotel’s food and beverage director, says Ironside Whiskey Bar was part of a multimillion-dollar remodel of the lobby. The bar stocks well over 100 whiskeys, as well as a few high-end sipping tequilas and cognacs. Can’t make up your mind? The bar sells flights. And if the pandemic has made us all start a bucket list, Ironside may be able to help whiskey lovers with theirs. One of the whiskeys the bar stocks is Double Eagle Very Rare, which costs $2,000 per bottle. Aged 20 years, only 199 bottles of this whiskey were made, Silver says, and just two bottles are in Maine. A one-ounce pour will set you back $400. The bar served its first glass weekend before last, Silver said.
