A KEIGHLEY-based firm has further strengthened its management team. Andrew Frith has been appointed a general manager for packaging with the PFF Group, whose headquarters are in Royd Ings Avenue. The move comes as the company continues to develop its new health division, formed after a contract was secured from the Department for Health and Social Care to produce personal protective equipment. “We are in the process of making key appointments to support the development and growth of our health division,” said group managing director, Kenton Robbins. “Andrew has come on board as we move forward with our plans to increase production and explore other opportunities in the health sector.”

PFF Group, whose ‘traditional’ business is manufacturing food packaging, has set-up the new arm as it diversifies into producing personal protective equipment for the NHS. The company, whose headquarters are in Royd Ings Avenue, won a major contract from the Department of Health and Social Care to make 360 million disposable polythene aprons. As a result, the group has created 100 new jobs and invested more than £2 million in custom-built machines. Now, Mark Foulger – who has worked with several large medical-device manufacturers – has been appointed commercial director of the new division. He will report to group managing director, Kenton Robbins.

PFF Group, whose headquarters are in Royd Ings Avenue, won a major contract from the Department of Health and Social Care to make 360 million disposable polythene aprons. John Conway – who joined PFF last August in a temporary role – has become general manager of the firm’s manufacturing plant, in Washington, Tyne and Wear. Production manager Sally Pietryga has been promoted to site operations co-ordinator and data capture manager. And shift managers Craig Martin and Steve Walmsley have been appointed shift production managers.

PFF Group has installed custom-built machines and taken-on the extra employees after being awarded a contract by the Department for Health and Social Care to manufacture 360 million disposable polythene aprons. The company – which is also maintaining its more-normal role of producing food packaging – collaborated with British machine manufacturer Hanbury-Autogil to design and commission two specialist pieces of equipment. Kenton Robbins, managing director of PFF Group, said: “Demand for personal protective equipment has soared globally, with 210 million plastic aprons needed every week in the NHS alone.
