Kentucky State Police said that a man shot by police early Sunday morning in Newport has life-threatening injuries, according to a report from Enquirer Media Partner Fox19. The man pointed a handgun in the face of a Boone County sheriff’s deputy early Sunday morning, police said, but the deputy was able to push the weapon away. The man then pointed the gun at another deputy before fleeing, according to the sheriff s office in a release Sunday.

31-year-old killed in single-vehicle Taylor Mill crash, police say

View Comments A 31-year-old man was killed after his car overturned Friday afternoon in Taylor Mill, according to the Kenton County Police Department.  At around 4:20 p.m., officers from the and Taylor Mill Police Department and Kenton County Police Department responded were dispatched to Decoursey Pike (KY-177) under the Interstate 275 overpass for a traffic collision with injuries.  Investigators said James Woodrum, 31, of Covington, was traveling southbound on Decoursey Pike when he lost control of his vehicle. The car went towards the east side of the roadway and overturned. The vehicle came to a rest on its top back in the roadway, officials said.

The call was for a 70-year-old man found nonresponsive and not breathing.
