Hopkinsville man charged with assaulting police officer, drug possession

A Hopkinsville man was charged Wednesday with assaulting a police officer and drug possession following a traffic stop. Kenneth Randolph, 38, was charged with driving on a suspended DUI license, changing drivers while a car was in motion, third-degree assault of a police officer or probation officer, resisting arrest, buying or possessing drug paraphernalia, possession of synthetic drugs and also arrested on an active warrant. Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, detectives with the Hopkins County Vice and Narcotics Unit observed a white van occupied with three people traveling south on I-69 approaching exit 111. The van crossed the white fog line multiple times and then entered back into the lane, according to the police report. At that time, detectives initiated lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop near exit 111, but the vehicle did not stop and continued through an intersection traveling east on White City Road.

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Jan 28, 2021 10:11 AM A Hopkinsville man was arrested in Madisonville Tuesday on charges of assault following a traffic stop on I-69. According to a news release, Madisonville police officers were patrolling on I-69 near the 11 mile marker when they observed a vehicle swerving over the white fog line multiple times.  A traffic stop was initiated, but the vehicle reportedly failed to stop the driver, who was later identified as 38-year old Kenneth Randolph of Hopkinsville, was allegedly observed leaving the driver’s side seat while the vehicle was in motion and letting a passenger take over.

Hopkinsville Man Charged With Assaulting Madisonville Officer

Kenneth Randolph/Hopkins County Jail Police say a Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting an officer after a traffic stop in Madisonville Wednesday afternoon. According to Madisonville police, shortly before 3:00 p.m. detectives with the Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit saw a van occupied by three subjects traveling south on Interstate 69 approaching exit 111 and crossing the white fog line multiple times, and then entering back into its lane of travel. After detectives activated their emergency equipment, police say the van failed to stop and continued through the intersection traveling east on White City Road. Police say the driver, later identified as 38-year old Kenneth Randolph, of Hopkinsville, was observed jumping in the rear of the van while it was still in motion, and a passenger took control of the vehicle.
