Stock image of a sheriff court building WHEN police officers visited a woman s house in Galashiels while enforcing a warrant, they discovered a 33-year-old man in the premises. But Andrew Atkinson was already the subject of a non-harassment order not to contact the woman and was subsequently arrested. Depute fiscal Ross Price told Selkirk Sheriff Court the police had visited the house in connection with an unrelated matter at around 5.20pm on December 21. They discovered Atkinson and also his partner who he was banned from contacting. The court heard that the partner had asked for the non-harassment order to be revoked.

Galashiels woman given tag after breaking into house

Selkirk Sheriff Court A BORDERS woman who admitted breaking into a neighbour s flat has been given a tag at Selkirk Sheriff Court. Catrina Aprile, 39, of Church Square, Galashiels, has been placed on a night-time curfew between the hours of 9pm and 7am for the next three months. She previously admitted stealing a computer games console and a laptop during the break-in between April 20 and April 24 in 2018. Aprile was ordered to pay £200 compensation to the neighbour. The court heard that Aprile had previously been sentenced to a Community Payback Order for the offence involving unpaid work but had failed to comply.

The Eagle Inn, Dunbar. Image: Google Maps TWO county brothers who refused to wear face masks in a Dunbar pub and shouted homophobic abuse at police officers have avoided a jail sentence. Barry Rutherford, 30, and Lee Rutherford, 28, threatened bar staff at two pubs in East Lothian after they had been asked to cover up while inside the premises and refused service. The pair were told they were not being served at The Eagle Inn in Dunbar due to their behaviour and, after being asked to leave, Barry Rutherford told one worker: “F off, I’ll remember your face”. The brothers then went to The Golf Tavern in Haddington, seeking a room for the night.
