Lima man pleads to attempted murder, felonious assault

Readers gutted as Halstead MP weighs in on Tier 4 announcement

DEVASTATED Gazette readers have blamed the Government after the crushing news they are banned from visited family and friends over Christmas. Halstead and the Braintree district were thrown into a third lockdown on Sunday as cases continue to rise due to the new and more transmissible Covid strain discovered by scientists. Residents cannot mix with anyone outside their household – even on Christmas Day – under the Tier 4 rules and must now stay at home except for essential work, shopping, healthcare or exercise. Reacting to the news announced by the Prime Minister on Saturday, Gazette readers admitted they were “gutted” with many blaming the Government.

Volusia County shoppers hit stores on final weekend before Christmas

DAYTONA BEACH  His arms laden with three big Victoria’s Secret bags, Antonio Taddeo was among the early-birds on Saturday at Volusia Mall, where shoppers were hitting the stores on the final big weekend before Christmas Day. Like many of them, Taddeo, 44, was balancing the necessity of adhering to health guidelines related to the coronavirus pandemic with the desire to keep his holiday shopping traditions. “I don’t want to go near anything,” Taddeo said of his concern about the virus. “I do most of my shopping online, but it’s Christmastime and there’s something about going out and getting stuff.”
