In many ways, today s article is going to mirror the feature on Hamsah Nasrildeen. Both were college safeties with overhang linebacker skill sets. Both players are excellent tacklers, both hit hard and play fast, both are better with the play in front of them, and both will be looking to offer scheme versatility to Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich.

Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets

Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. It was said by Joe Douglas that after the NFL Draft, the team would start to focus on a contract extension for free safety Marcus Maye. Some have viewed this as a mistake given Maye’s age (he is 28 going into this season). While this is a legitimate concern, I think that it’s a bit overstated. Maye has shown a high IQ on defense and a great level of play so far in his career. If Joe Douglas is able to lock down Maye on a two year extension, I don’t think this would be much of a problem at all. It would provide the secondary with great leadership and a reliable player while the team builds towards contention. While he may not be part of the long-term plans, he’s a necessary asset for the time being on this team. With that, here are your links to the Jets today.

Focusing in on Jason Pinnock

Earlier this week I focused in on offensive lineman Tristen Hoge and Kenny Yeboah, you can read those pieces by clicking their names, today I turn my attention to 5th round selection Jason Pinnock, a cornerback from the University of Pittsburgh.
Pinnock grew up in Connecticut as a huge Jets fan, and considering his position and the team he followed, it will come as no surprise that his favourite player was Darrelle Revis, the Jets first-round pick (14th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft.
Jason attended Windsor High School playing as both a wide receiver and a defensive back. He finished his senior season with 1,172 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. He also returned two fumbles for a score and one interception, so it’s safe to say he was no stranger to the end-zone.
