Mock Draft:
I decided to do a last-minute mock draft.
R1 P14 QB Trey Lance - North Dakota State
Last year in one of the mocks I did Justin Herbert fell to Minnesota at 22 and I ran up.
DAY ONE OPTIONS
None. The only tight end who looks worthy of a first-round pick is Florida’s Kyle Pitts, and it is highly unlikely that he will make it out of the top 10. In fact, many draft analysts believe Pitts will be the first pick for former Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons (fourth overall).
DAY TWO OPTIONS
Hunter Long, Boston College (6-5, 254): This is a player coach Mike Vrabel no doubt knows well because he was a college teammate of Vrabel’s son, Tyler, starting right tackle. Long led all FBS tight ends in targets (89) and receptions (57) last season. He also is an effective and willing blocker who was a starter for two years in college. This definitely is a guy to watch when it comes to the Titans, who currently have one second and two third-round picks.
The 2021 NFL Draft is fast approaching. And it’s a big one for GM Ryan Pace, who enters the final year of the extension he signed in 2018. The same can be said for Head Coach Matt Nagy, the NFL Coach of the Year for his efforts in 2018, who aims to fix an offense that has been spinning its wheels since the start of 2019. Starting today,
we’re looking at some of the best prospects at various positions leading up to the Draft in search of fits for the Bears’ needs.
Today: Tight ends
Need: Not as high as you’d think, especially when considering one of their top returning options is entering his age 35 season and is largely a one-dimensional player at this stage of his career. But not as low as you’d want it to be on the needs list, especially when considering the team used its first of two second-round draft picks in 2020 on the first tight end off the board.

Notre Dame tight end Tommy Tremble could be an option for the Lions in the NFL draft.

Notable departures: Jesse James
First-round possibilities for Detroit (seventh overall): Pitts
Day 2-3 possibilities: Brevin Jordan (Miami Fla.), Tommy Tremble (Notre Dame), Hunter Long (Boston College)
Late-round fits: Ben Mason (Michigan), Jacob Harris (UCF), Tre’ McKitty (Georgia), Kenny Yeboah (Ole Miss)
Breakdown: Before you ask, yes, the Lions could spend another top-10 pick on a tight end. Yes, that would be three since 2009 (when nobody else has done it even once in that span) and four in the first round overall (when just one other team has done it more than once). And, yes, Kyle Pitts really is worth it.

The Baltimore Ravens’ passing attack has been a lightning rod for controversy and criticism after their record-breaking offense from 2019 came back down to earth a bit in 2020.
Arguably the most underrated reason for the regression in both production and efficiency last season was the departure of Hayden Hurst via trade last offseason and the failure to effectively replace him, which drastically impacted their ability to operate out of 13 personnel.
In 2019, their ability to be both dominant and unpredictable with three tight end sets and two dangerous pass-catching threats at the position in Hurst and Pro Bowler Mark Andrews was integral in their success through the air during Lamar Jackson’s unanimous MVP winning campaign.
