SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio’s Weathered Souls Brewing Company was recently named the best brewery in the United States in 2020 by the online magazine Hop Culture.
The magazine covers the best beer, bars, breweries, gifts, and supplies in the U.S. and around the world.
Hop Culture looked at more than 8,000 potential candidates and choose to highlight 12 with Weathered Souls earning top honors.
Weathered Souls, located in the 600 block of Embassy Oaks on the North Side, received high marks for its craft brews, recipes and use of fruits to flavor some of its craft beers.

The editors consider each business’ visual identity, taproom experience and of course their suds. Amid 2020 s political volatility, the online mag also decided to factor in breweries willingness to use their business as a platform to promote community and togetherness. Last June, Weathered Souls head brewer Marcus Baskerville launched the project as a way for breweries to join forces to create imperial stouts a robust dark ale with higher-than-usual alcohol content in the name of raising awareness of social and racial injustice.
WILMINGTON – Wilmington-based Next Glass under new management is developing a taste for growth through acquisition.
The emerging entrepreneurial company has acquired digital magazine Hop Culture, which caters to craft beer enthusiasts, it announced in a press release.

Hop Culture was founded in 2017 by journalist Kenny Gould, who took over leadership of a “Beer of the Week” club at Duke University in 2009. When he launched Hop Culture in 2017, he began promoting small and independent craft breweries on Instagram and a digital magazine.
